LIIAR

Language - The language of music videos can be represented in many different ways.
for instance - "Lady-Gaga- Telephone' music video has a beginning and end interval which speaks to her target audience. The language and speech makes the music video verisimilitude and reflects the music video as 'Lady-Gaga' and 'Beyonce' run away from jail.
Another form of language in music videos is the interpretation of lyrics. Do music videos show visuals to represent the lyrics or do they diverge away from the normal codes and conventions?
In 'Peter Gabriel's - Sledge hammer' it follows the lyrics."You could be a steam train" - a steam train then circles his head, this shows the audience strong imagery and provides voyeuristic pleasure. This also reinforces the lyrics.
I would like to merge 'Lady-Gaga' and 'Peter Gabriel' music video language ideas together in my music video.
I think that some lyrics look good represented by imagery. However, i also think that the idea of a short opening of my protagonist speaking will encourage the audience to watch the rest of my music video.

Ideology - The ideology within a music video would be the message that it is trying to get across to its audience. for instance 'Madonna -Vogue' -  Shes gets across that everyone should look at her as she is iconic of marilyn monroe.

Institution - Unlike popular institutions such as 'Def Jam' and 'Island records' I don't have the funding, actors or props. Which poses a problem. However,  i think that this is a chance to be more creative.
The institution, when sign up bands, own the rights to their music and make a percentage of profits taken from consumer merchandise.
I Have created a name for my institution, 'Tree Drawings' (productions.)
The reason i have called my institution this is because the names of the production companies are strange and speak to a particular audience, so i called my company 'Tree Drawings' to reflect upon society.
Firstly within my chosen brief i am going to produce a music video for my band to market them as a product. Secondly create a CD digipak and a poster of the new album to promote my band and show their target audience that they are amazing by linking all three products closely together so that they are iconic of an everyday society.

Audience - As the song 'Lenka- The Show' is a fairly modern one, i suggest that my target audience will be a younger one. Possibly from the age 12 - 25. I think this because my protagonist Leonie is in the middle of them to age categories and the props, mise-en-scene and narrative fit the criteria for a young female audience. the reason i think female is because the song is set up to be extremely feminine and quirky.

Representation - Music videos can represent all different things, from the representation of your characters, song lyrics and props. Generally when you want to represent something you show the audience what they want to see in the style that you perceive it.
'Kate Nash - foundations' is my inspiration for my representation. The way the music video uses stop motion to express her feelings is a really good way or presenting visuals to the audience. i have decided to use this idea. In other ways, i want to dress my protagonist up quirky like the song and use a field as my main location to represent that she is lost and doesn't want to be like anyone else. i think this will relate to my target audience because teenagers thing the same.
